报告摘要:
Nanophotonic devices, such as resonators, photonic crystals, and metasurfaces, have boosted many promising applications in light sources, imaging, optoelectronic devices, and quantum optics. Conventionally, these nanophotonic devices are constructed from silicon, oxides, III-V materials, and metals and are integrated through top-down lithography techniques. In recent years, we have witnessed the rise of active photonics based on emerging quantum materials, such as 2D materials, topological materials, and perovskites. These materials have showcased intriguing properties, including spin-valley locking, hyperbolic dispersion, giant nonlinear optical effects, strong optical gain for lasing, single-photon and entangled photon-pair generation, etc. In my presentation, I will highlight our latest progress in developing compact active photonic devices by integrating emerging quantum materials with innovative optical designs. Examples will emphasize the synergy of active quantum materials and photonic structures in applications like spin-valley-locked lasing, exciton-polariton nonlinearity, and resonant optoelectronic devices.
